During early 2002 the North Norfolk Railway contacted us regarding the possible loan of one of our locos , so following negotiations an agreement was reached to base 5580 (31162) on the line. This delightful railway once formed part of the Midland and Great Northern Railway and runs for 5 1/4 miles between Sheringham and Holt with intermediate stations at Weybourne and Kelling . The lines depot and engineering facilities are at Weybourne. Even though Norfolk is renowned for its miles and miles of ' flat lands' , the NNR is far from it with a 1 in 80 gradient from Weybourne to roughly 3/4 mile from the terminus at Holt. 5580 arrived by road in late May 2002 and soon started work during the Golden Jubilee week commencing on 1st June , putting in a sterling performance over 8 days. There are plenty of diesel turns throughout the year for the diesel fleet which comprises 25057 , 31207 , D6732 , 47367 as well as our 5580.
